NCSU-COD Fall Commencement Piece

Art DirectionBrandingGraphic Design
Classmate Will VanderVeen and I volunteered to design the 2013 Fall Commencement Piece for N.C. State's College of Design. The program serves as a lasting artifact and showcases the materials students use in the College of Design. We focused on students' hands, taking pictures of them holding supplies and tools and forming the College of Design's slogan "design for life." This design showed friends and family at graduation what the College stood for and the high level of work and craftsmanship being completed.
The commencement piece folds out to poster for graduates and their families to keep. Designed with Will VanderVeen
The commencement piece stacked and opened to first spread.
The program folds down to a square.
The first spread features the order of events and the phrases "design for life" and "design your life" spelled out with students' hands.
Flipping up the spread reveals the top third of the inside poster the list of graduates.
Flipping down the last third reveals the full poster.
